The Build Datasets interface will create a new dataset from the source item. A dataset is a connected group of Salesforce records. The dataset can be migrated to any destination item with the Migrate Datasets interface. This interface is available by right clicking a deployment arrow on the desktop and also from the Options Menu.
Metazoa Snapshot is a powerful tool for managing your Salesforce data. Among its features, you can build and migrate datasets. The 'Build Dataset' feature captures data from the source Salesforce account, while the 'Migrate' feature moves the captured data to the destination Salesforce account.
Building a Dataset
Select the Snapshots: In Metazoa Snapshot, identify the two snapshots connected by an arrow. This connection represents the data flow from the source account to the destination account.
Context Menu: Right-click on the arrow connecting the snapshots. From the context menu, choose 'Build a Dataset'.
Choose Parent Objects: The 'Parent Objects' are the primary records you wish to capture and move. You can filter and select these parent objects by their name or choose to select all records.
Select Child Objects: For each parent object, you may select any related child objects. For example, if 'Opportunity' is a parent object, you might select 'Opportunity Line-Item' as a child object. All child objects will remain linked to their respective parent objects.
Field Selection: Decide which fields you wish to include in your dataset from both the parent and child objects. This process entails selecting the fields you want to load into the dataset and those you do not.
External References: Some objects may have external references to other objects. For instance, the 'Opportunity Line-Item' might reference 'Price Book' and 'Price Book Entry'. To handle these references, you may select additional fields that you want to match with the children on the destination account. For example, you might want to use the account name and the billing city from the 'Account' object.
Build the Dataset: Once all your objects and fields are selected, navigate to the 'Build Dataset' command. Here, you have the option to replace an existing dataset or create a new one.
Data Capture: Metazoa Snapshot uses the Salesforce Bulk Data API for data capture, enabling the tool to capture hundreds of thousands of records swiftly.
Scheduling: You can also schedule the build process to run automatically at any time that suits your needs.
In a recent demo, we captured about a quarter million records from a Salesforce account in less than a minute.
The 'Migrate Dataset' feature, which will be covered in the next guide, will help you to move the captured data to your destination Salesforce account.
